About Thoughtful Talk
Where Thoughtful Ideas Are Shared With Confidence
Hi, I’m Tricia Detig, M.S., CCC-SLP, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of Thoughtful Talk LLC.
With a decade of experience working in schools and supporting students ages 11–18, I created Thoughtful Talk as a space where communication goals go beyond articulation drills and grammar worksheets. Here, we focus on real-life connection, self-expression, and confidence—especially for teens who feel misunderstood, overlooked, or anxious about speaking up.
Why I Do This Work
Adolescents are at such a powerful turning point in their lives. They’re forming identities, building relationships, and trying to find their voice. And yet, so many speech and language resources aren’t designed with them in mind.
That’s where Thoughtful Talk comes in.
I specialize in working with teens who need support in:
Social communication (conversations, friendships, boundaries)
Expressive & receptive language (sharing ideas clearly, understanding others)
Stuttering & fluency strategies
Self-advocacy and executive communication (emails, presentations, group work)
This is not a one-size-fits-all therapy space. I take time to connect, collaborate, and create personalized plans that honor each student’s personality, goals, and strengths.
What Makes Thoughtful Talk Different
Teen-centered, real-world focused
Parent collaboration included
Flexible scheduling & virtual options
Warm, strengths-based approach
Custom materials + strategies that work
About me
I’m a big believer in the power of gentle guidance, humor, and small wins. My sessions are structured, but never stiff—always supportive, never clinical. Whether we’re working on conversation flow, preparing for a speech, or role-playing peer scenarios, the focus is on building confidence through meaningful communication.
When I’m not working with students, I’m creating practical SLP resources, coaching tennis, and wrangling life with my twin toddlers.
Let’s Connect
Whether you’re a parent looking for the right support, or a student who wants to feel more confident speaking up—I’d love to hear from you.
